Chad Campbell, the man accused of fatally stabbing his nephew during a dispute over the volume of a television during a World Cup football match, has been offered $700,000 bail.
The 25-year-old labourer of Ewarton, St. Catherine, was offered bail following an application by his attorney Donahue Martin when he appeared in the St. Catherine Parish Court on Friday morning.
Mr. Campbell is to return to court on September 18.
It is alleged that about 8:00 p.m. last Wednesday, Mr. Campbell and 23-year-old Lamar Mullings had a dispute after the latter requested that the television volume be turned down.
The request was reportedly refused, and a physical altercation ensued.
During the tussle, Mr. Campbell allegedly used a knife to inflict a wound to his nephew’s chest.
He was assisted to Linstead Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Mr. Campbell was arrested on suspicion of murder on the night of the incident.
