The Jamaica Police Federation says it is deeply concerned about the government’s first wage and benefits offer for rank-and-file members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force.
In a statement Wednesday, the Federation disclosed that the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service had proposed a three-year agreement from April 1, 2025 to March 31, 2028.
It says the offer includes salary increases of 2 per cent in year one, followed by increases of 2.5 per cent in years two and three.
The Federation says it will flatly reject the proposal, arguing that the increases would have a negative impact on the disposable income of its members, when measured against inflationary pressures.
The Federation also expressed concern in relation to the government’s position on fringe benefits.
It says there was no support indicated for some benefits, while decisions on all allowances were deferred, pending development of a policy framework on allowances by the Police High Command.
The Federation says its Central Committee and consultants are now reviewing and analysing the offer and are expected to make a counter-proposal in the coming week.
