A man is now in police custody following the death of a woman who was mowed down by a speeding motorcar in Ocho Rios early this morning.
The deceased is 65 year old Claudette Thorpe, of Petersfield, in Retreat St Mary.
It’s reported that, about 5:55 a.m., Ms Thorpe was walking along main street in Ocho Rios, in the vicinity of Big Ben Supermarket, when she was struck by a white Toyota Mark X motor car.
The car slammed into a wall and a light pole.
Ms Thorpe was pronounced dead at Hospital.
The driver of the Mark X reportedly fled the scene but was later handed over to the Police by family members.
