The Urban Development Corporation (UDC) says it will comply with an interim order from the St Ann Parish Court granting public access to Little Dunn’s River in Ocho Rios seven days a week.
The UDC says it has instructed its team to take the necessary steps to facilitate access, in keeping with the Court’s ruling.
The Corporation has stressed, however, that allowing access to the property is different from formally operating and managing Little Dunn’s River as a recreational facility.
The UDC says it is not currently in a position to provide day-to-day management, including security, lifeguard services, sanitation, maintenance and other amenities normally associated with a managed recreational facility. It says those arrangements are important because of public safety, security and liability concerns.
The UDC has instructed its attorneys to pursue the appropriate legal avenues in relation to the interim ruling.
