Works Minister Robert Morgan has said a programme is being crafted to address several major breakaways across the island.
The North Central Clarendon Member of Parliament said these include the breakaways in the north and north west of the parish and at Pennants in his constituency.
Mr. Morgan said Pennants, which links the north to the south of the island, will be fixed under the SPARK programme in the coming months.
He said a number of breakaways have emerged since the passage of Hurricane Melissa.
“It would have caused significant damage to areas in St. Elizabeth, Hanover, Westmoreland, St. James and Trelawny. Trelawny has a particular problem where over 40 breakaways have emerged. So the government has to take a more holistic look, not just looking at individual breakaways. Some of these breakaways have been around before my time. We’re definitely planning to start doing some work on them over the next few months,” he disclosed.
He has sought to remind motorists to drive according to the conditions on the roads, especially where they are in need of repair.
