Three men plead guilty to driver’s licence fraud

Three men, charged with fraud in relation to fictitious drivers licences, pleaded guilty when they appeared in the St Catherine Parish Court.

Forty-four year-old Fitzroy Young, from Spanish Town, was charged with Conspiracy to Defraud, contrary to Common Law, while 63 year-old Allan Roper from Portland and Steve Clarke, 54, from Kingston were charged with Conspiracy to Defraud and Uttering Forged Documents.

These charges arose from investigations by the Revenue Protection Division concerning the use of fraudulent driver’s licences.

The accused men obtained driver’s licences, based on information pertaining to deceased persons or persons whose licences had not been renewed for long periods.

Several other men have been sentenced recently for similar offences.

Clarke and Roper were each fined $300,000, or thirty days imprisonment, while Young was fined $200,000 or 30 days imprisonment.
