Former MP Arthur Nelson has died

The People’s National Party (PNP) has expressed sadness at the passing of former Member of Parliament for St James West Central Arthur Nelson, describing him as a devoted public servant whose quiet dignity and genuine commitment to his constituents left a lasting mark on public life.

Mr Nelson died at age 91 after what the PNP described as a life dedicated to his profession, his party and his country.

The PNP said Mr Nelson, a professional engineer by training, brought rigour, integrity and practical good sense to his parliamentary service. 

He represented St James West Central after winning consecutive general elections in 1993 and 1997.

In a statement on on Sunday, the PNP said Mr Nelson was a man of remarkable humility.
