Water restrictions announced for sections of the Corporate Area

The National Water Commission (NWC) has announced water restrictions for customers served by the Constant Spring system, effective Monday.

The move comes as water levels at the Hermitage Dam continue to decline, now nearing the critical threshold of 65 per cent, despite recent rainfall.

Under the new schedule, affected communities will receive water on a 12-hour alternating basis.

Areas classified as Upper Constant Spring — including sections of Duhaney Park, Pembroke Hall, Red Hills Road, Mannings Hill Road, and Havendale — will have water from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Lower Constant Spring areas — such as Half Way Tree, Hagley Park Road, Maxfield Avenue, Waltham Park Road, and Cross Roads — will be supplied from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The NWC says the system has been divided into two zones to ensure fair distribution during the period of reduced inflows.

The Commission notes that several water supply systems across the island are experiencing lower-than-usual levels and are being closely monitored, but the Mona Reservoir remains stable at about 85 per cent capacity, and customers served by that system will continue to receive normal service.

The NWC is urging customers in affected locations to conserve water, store supplies, fix leaks, and use water-saving measures as conditions.
