Tropical Battery says it recently signed an agreement with US based Wright Energy Storage Technology to act as the sole authorised distributor for its renewable storage batteries in Jamaica and the Caribbean.
These batteries are said to be far superior to the traditional lithium-ion batteries.
The company also says it is currently in discussions with a number of prominent companies in Jamaica and the Dominican Republic which want access to failsafe renewable storage batteries and technologies.
Alexander Melville, CEO of the company, says the first of these systems will be up and fully running during the June quarter of this year.
These systems, which use electrostatic storage mechanisms, rather than conventional chemical processes are being positioned as options to the traditional lithium–ion batteries.
