A three year-old boy is dead, while two other members of his family are being treated for bullet wounds after they were attacked at their home in Denham Town, Kingston early this morning.
The child has been identified as Jase Pinnock.
The other victims are his 8 year old brother and 31 year old father.
It’s reported that, about 1:40, a man, armed with a gun, entered the house at 119 Nelson Street and opened fire, hitting the three victims.
The gunman escaped on foot in the area.
The wounded persons were rushed to the hospital where the three year old, who was shot in his abdomen, died while being treated.
No motive has been established for the attack.
In response to the shooting, residents of Nelson Street set fire to debris to express their anger. It was quickly extinguished by the Jamaica Fire Brigade.
The police appealed to the residents to channel their anger toward helping the police find the perpetrators of the violence.
Meanwhile, the police are searching for two persons of interest in connection with this morning’s deadly attack in Denham Town.
They are known by their aliases, Jubi and Romy, and are said to be members of the Scream Corner gang.
The men are being asked to report to the Denham Town CIB within the next 24 hours.
Assistant Commissioner Michael Phipps, commanding officer at the Area 4 police headquarters, said preliminary investigations have suggested that the shooting is linked to a turf war between gangs.
A 48-hour curfew has been effect in Denham Town since Thursday in response to a shooting in the area on Wednesday involving two rival gangs.
ACP Phipps says the police will be carrying out operational activities and other interventions to have peace restored to the community.
