Prime Minister Dr Andrew Holness has now accepted his salary package, in line with the recommendations under the Public Sector Compensation Review Programme.
The annual basic salary for the Prime Minister stands at $28.6 million as of April 1, 2024.
Dr Holness initially declined the adjusted compensation in May 2023, following public backlash over the huge increases in salaries for members of the political directorate.
But, in a media release from the Office of the Prime Minister on Friday, Dr Holness said, after careful review and internal consultations, it was agreed that he should conform to the established emoluments and remuneration for the office.
The OPM says Parliament has been advised to effect this change as of September 2025, and consequent adjustments should follow for former prime ministers and their surviving spouses.
