The Jamaica Accountability Meter Portal is calling for greater scrutiny of the owners of three additional companies that benefitted from the tax exemption status at the University Hospital of the West Indies
The fourth company, JACDEN, of which People’s National Party MP for St Andrew East Central Dennis Gordon is the CEO, was one of four companies that benefitted from the hospital’s tax exemption status.
The other companies that benefitted from the tax exemption status are Supreme Laundry Services, Willman Sales, and Scientific Medical Services
Jeanette Calder, Executive Director of the Jamaica Accountability Meter Portal, said on Tuesday that the information on these companies should be made public, arguing that “if we know JACDEN, we should know who the others are, in the interest of fairness.”
That knowledge, she said, should not be confined merely to who the legal owners of these companies are but to the beneficial owners are as well.
Ms Calder was speaking on Radio Jamaica’s Beyond the Headlines.
