The Cayman Islands Customs and Border Control Service says eight Cuban migrants have arrived by boat in Cayman Brac.
The boat, carrying three female and five male migrants, arrived at the northeast coast of the island.
The Border Protection agency added that the migrants had been “secured” and were being processed “in line with Cayman Islands law and international obligations”.
This is the latest arrival of migrants in Cayman as local authorities monitor the developing economic situation in Cuba that has led to concerns about an influx of Cubans into Cayman.
As of March 3, thirty Cuban migrants remain in Cayman, including the eight new arrivals.
So far this year, the Cayman Islands says 13 Cubans have been repatriated.
